What we deliberately left out

BuildIt ·

Software grows by addition. Most of it shouldn’t.

Here is what BuildIt deliberately does not do — and the reasoning behind each absence.

No drip campaigns

A drip campaign trains your contacts to ignore you. The first email lands; the second is automatic; the third is irrelevant. By the fifth, you’ve taught the inbox that mail from you isn’t worth opening. We didn’t ship the gun.

No lead-scoring theater

A lead score that rolls up activity from twelve fields into a single integer is a shrug dressed as insight. The number isn’t predictive; it’s tautological. We left the column out and saved everyone the false confidence.

No 40-field contact records

Every CRM ships with forms designed for a hypothetical buyer. Every operator fills in three fields and leaves the rest blank. BuildIt’s contact record is the three fields you’ll actually use, plus room for the one note that mattered.

No sales-floor dashboards

Dashboards that show you what your sales team did this week presuppose a sales team. You’re a founder, an agent, a broker, an advisor. You’re the team. You don’t need a dashboard. You need to know what to do this morning.

No automation pretending to be a relationship

The automated “checking in” email, the birthday wish from a script — your contacts know. They’ve been on the receiving end a thousand times. We left the feature out and let you actually check in.

The list of things software doesn’t do is, eventually, more important than the list of things it does. We’re trying to keep ours short, on purpose.
